All it is required is the way, and one will discovery, not anything else, not sweat, not effort, not vast investment with time - depends solely on way.

Take how Glenn discovered that air molecules for certain bounce at each other at microscopic level:
logic step i) sound travels, since there is echo, it reflects off walls, and reflects worse off rough uneven surface
logic step 2) also incorporating the knowledge sound travels like wave, expands out across distance, gathered from testings and from experients, this means far distance has wide arc, covered travel-area by the "sound circle"
logic step iii) low frequency vibrations, drum sounds, hums, thuds does not get absorbed across distance, proportional to distance it does not diminish, while sharper sounds disminish, proportional to distance linear ratio, and frequency square-exponential ratio (or both linear ratio) (don't know that one yet from doing this)
logic step iv) thus, zap, zap, bingo, win, I got it - air molecules bump into each other, and quite actively so - for only bumping randomly eats up lower frequency vibrations, while not eat up higher frequency, since the waves are gianter at then
